of patients I've told to relax and when they stop gripping their

The most common symptoms
of Diastasis Recti are the appearance
of a belly bulge, a feeling
of core «weakness», and compromised function
of the deep core and
pelvic floor muscles (which stabilize the pelvis and the spine) leading to hip,
pelvic, and back pain or

Most people with
pelvic floor issues are not simply suffering from muscle weakness, but rather from a tightness or shortening

A lot
of pelvic health
issues arise because, just like any other muscle in the body, these
pelvic floor muscles can become weak or tight and even have painful trigger points and areas
of spasm.
Whether you are looking for safe postpartum exercises,
pelvic floor friendly workouts, programs designed for women in menopause or high intensity interval training — your trainer should be able to design that for you in a way that works for YOU, taking into consideration any and all
issues that may accompany your unique situation or set
of concerns.
Pelvic floor function affects both men and women, and faulty mechanics can contribute to a number
of issues.
Unfortunately, that little bit
of sneeze - pee that happens every now and then is an indication that your
pelvic floor muscles are not functioning as well as they should and it does increase your risk
of other, more serious
pelvic floor issues later on.
Many
of my clients have presented with overlapping digestive health
issues such as small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO),
pelvic floor dysfunction, alteration in stomach emptying such as fast emptying called dumping syndrome or delay in emptying called gastroparesis.
(A common
pelvic floor issue is holding too much tightness, so practicing full relaxation
of the
pelvic floor muscles is helpful.)
Often, CPPS it the result
of one or more
of these
issues and the net result is tense, overactive
pelvic floor muscles.
One
of the bigger
issues women can have from this is painful intercourse and an inability to contract their
pelvic floor muscles.
It's not only weak

issues, «hypertonic»
pelvic floor muscle or overactive
pelvic floor muscles can present with a range
of symptoms too.
«The
issue is typically weakness in the sphincter, which controls the opening to the bladder, or in the
pelvic floor,» the muscles and ligaments that hold
pelvic organs in place and support the bladder, says Kathleen C. Kobashi, MD, head
of the section
