At trial, the judge found that the mainly circumstantial evidence (i.e. the existence of child pornography on the laptop) was sufficient to find Villaroman guilty on the
charge of possession of child pornography beyond a reasonable doubt.
Yesterday, Belanger was arraigned in federal court in Fargo on three charges
of possession of child pornography, where he pleaded not guilty, the Associated Press reports.
Robert Smith is on trial in Ontario Superior Court on one charge
of possession of child pornography and one charge of making child pornography available.
The accused was unsuccessful in his appeal on other counts on which he was found guilty including two of sexual assault, two of sexual interference, one of abduction, two
of possession of child pornography and one count of making child pornography.
