Hardware is technically one of the newer avenues Google has opened up as in spite
of programs like Nexus having been around for some time, the more recent hardware launches have represented products that are by Google — irrespective of whether they really are manufactured by Google.

Google rejuvenated the Android One
program with the launch
of the Moto X4, a phone that has some similarities with the
likes of Google
Nexus and Pixels, at least on the software side
of things.
The Valve prototype Steam Machine can be seen as something
like a replication
of Google's
Nexus program in that the company presents a single machine to showcase the abilities
of their software.
Nexus Protect covers accidental damage as well as device malfunctions, however
like most insurance
programs it will not cover theft
of the device, for obvious reasons.
For now there aren't a lot
of specifics about the
Nexus Protect
program, though it'd be nice to see Google offer something similar for other products
like smartwatches and Chromebooks.
