He is a master conductor who plays scenes like symphonies of feelings, continuing long past the narrative point has been established to express the emotional intensity of the characters and situations, and to add moments
of pure grace to the mighty drama.

Pure Land Buddhists might call this something the primordial Vow
of Amida; feminists and process thinkers might call it the primordial Eros
of the universe; and more traditional Christians might call it
Grace.
I raise this question particularly with
Pure Land Buddhists because the affirmation
of other power, or what Christians call
grace, seems to place a greater emphasis on the metaphysical character
of the world and human experience than is present in other Buddhist traditions.
My argument was that
Pure Land Buddhism identified its founder with a mythical figure, Dharmakara, that there are advantages in connecting one's tradition to historical reality, that the emphasis on other power or
grace is clearer in the Christian tradition than in most Buddhism, and that Jesus could function as an historical embodiment and teacher
of grace.
While Maritain sadly failed to go all the way with de Lubac in refusing
pure nature, he still opposed Maurras, not only in the name
of «the primacy
of the spiritual» but also
of an «integral humanism» for which the free and natural spheres
of politics and culture must be oriented toward supernatural
grace if they are to be fully human, just, and legitimate.
Because he conceives radically the idea
of the
grace of God, he makes it plain that God's forgiveness must be for man an event in time, that the relation
of «I» and «Thou» exists between God and man, that God stands opposite to man as another Person over whom the man can have no sort
of control, who meets man with His claim and with His
grace, whose forgiveness is
pure gift.
@ my take: the «
pure» life
of christian leadership is not in being «better» than everyone else, but in admitting your need for
grace faster & earlier all the time.
(There are way too many links on my blog if you are so inclined) He preaches
pure grace like I've never heard in my life and many times I'm overcome with waves
of God's presence and love just listening.
God's guidance in the new life is
pure grace, given out
of his love for us.
