In the fourth quarter of 2010, Gartner surveyed 1,569 consumers in six countries — the US, UK, China, Japan, Italy and India — about their subjective experiences
of reading on screen versus reading printed paper text.
The static e-book has become embedded in the public's imagination as an exemplar of the future
of reading on the screen.

of Helvetica font in church bulletins, bald pastors who always wear black clothes from Banana Republic, beer at church barbecues, a renewed interest in corporately
reading ancient creeds or prayers, Nooma videos, Sufjan Stevens and everything related to Sufjan Stevens.
We
read the Bible «through the Jesus lens» — which looks suspiciously like it means using the parts
of the Gospels that we like, with the awkward bits carefully
screened out, which enables us to disagree with the biblical texts
on God, history, ethics and so
on, even when Jesus didn't (Luke 17:27 - 32 is an interesting example).
But the vast majority
of people will be disturbed just by
reading about these scenes, let alone viewing them
on the big
screen.
This is one way to «
read» television — to ask who benefits by particular kinds
of programs and commercials, by what is present
on or absent from the
screen, by the arrangements in the social system itself regarding television.
This would be impossible to do without some sort
of service like Google Reader which pulls all the blog posts together into one place and lets me know
on one simple
screen when new posts have been published from the various blogs I am interested in
reading.
Though some might find this annoying, almost everyone today has developed the skill
of listening to a message while
reading small bits
of information
on a
screen.
Most people don't resize their window this way as they are using a blog, but what it shows is that this blog can be easily
read on a variety
of screen sizes.
