That's because while they have great scientists, they leave the country because they don't have the
kind of research infrastructure that would encourage them to stay.
With support from the Yerkes Research Center and the
Office of Research Infrastructure Programs at the National Institutes of Health, Chan and colleagues are establishing a Transgenic Huntington's Disease Monkey Resource to facilitate preclinical research, consisting of a breeding colony, a biomaterial repository and a sperm bank.
The research was supported by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (R01 AI64060 and R37 AI51231), the United States Agency for International Development, the Emory Center for AIDS Research and the NIH Office
of Research Infrastructure Programs (P51OD011132: primate centers), the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative and Action Cycling.
Projects with DKRZ involvement: Within the framework of both national and international research and infrastructure projects, DKRZ is dedicated to topics contributing to the
improvement of the research infrastructure for climate science.
