Keeping the Sabbath to Keep the Earth by Sherry Golden (Winner of the Lay Category) Text: Psalm 145:9; Genesis 2:15; Numbers 6:24 Calls us into a return to the practice
of sabbath as a means to reduce environmental destruction.
The Jews insisted that this be done, so that the victims might be removed and their bodies disposed of before the beginning
of the sabbath at sunset.
The fundamental sanction
of sabbath in both statements of the commandment is creation — in Deuteronomy of a people and in Exodus of the world.
All this was done before sunset, which was the beginning
of the sabbath day.
There seems to be a lot of difference between the concept
of the sabbath and a sabbath.
Others, however, put the observance
of the sabbath day above the welfare of the people who observe it and labeled Jesus a sinner for violating it.
Jesus was entombed after his crusifiction, not buried, and on the third day he rose in the end
of the sabbath.
Mark says simply: «The sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath; so the Son of man is lord even
of the sabbath» (Mark 2:27 - 28, RSV).
The story ends with a Q.E.D., «so the Son of man is lord even
of the sabbath.»
One of our most fundamental disciplines as Christians is the idea
of a sabbath rest.

When we live in the rhythms

Once a year I take the time to contemplate the event that took place in the tomb of my heart, while in the hidden darkness over years
of Sabbaths, that heart of stone turned to a heart of flesh.

of Sabbaths or first day from the weekly sabbath.

of his children and their children, and died a very happy and fulfilled life, knowing that all
of his family was left with love, and peace and togetherness among each other, now this is true life, living righteously and wholesome by ourselves and by others around us is what we are all suppose to live like, caring for your neighbors faithfully, and all be as one now not after it is too late but now we need the law
of righteousness from YHWH, the 10 commandments, the
sabbath, a day
of rest, and the passover to remember the ones who died innocently, and to remember the freedom
of our lives given by YHWH and do good by one another and not let each other fall, right now is what we need in this world today people.

of Abraham) actually shows himself, I for one will not accept the talking snakes, virgin births, and condemnation
of personal freedoms that surround the belief in him — like stoning someone for working on the
sabbath, or killing children who curse their parents, or the rules
of owning slaves, all concepts clearly stated in the Old Testament.
9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a
sabbath of the LORD your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you.
A quandary: if this man is truly healed, it was done by someone with the power
of God, but if the healing took place on the
sabbath, then it was done by someone opposing God's law.
If the law says don't drink, rest on Sunday (or the
sabbath, one
of the ten commandments) or don't touch lepers, or tithe, give offerings, or anything you wan na add then Jesus certainly didn't follow all
of it and even broke it, it would seem.
According to the Bible God hated more than he loved, and the crap that is the 1st few books
of the old testament, which s barbaric and evil, not only to those men that are an abombanation, but those that not only eat pork, but touch a football, shellfish, work on the
sabbath, blasphamy, slaves who do nt allow there master to sleep with there wifes / daughters, and those that dared not idolise him because he is a jealous and vengeful God!
More likely, she spent her
sabbath in a hell - fury
of grief and recriminations against Romans, against the Sanhedrin, against the very Creator
of the universe.
He fights with every religious leader
of his day (they are representives
of God), hangs out with some
of the lowest people in society (drunks, prostitutes, tax collectors), healed people on the

of the Tabernacle, and the priests changed the twelve loaves on the altar

sabbath, wouldn't you?
By the way, if you go to church on Sundays you are following the teachings
of a Catholic pope, who changed the «
sabbath» to Sundays.
