choice supporters, Spellings and the White House unveiled a plan to incorporate private -

The role
of charter alternative
schools like Sunshine — publicly funded but managed by for - profit companies — is likely to grow under the new U.S. Secretary
of Education, Betsy DeVos, an ardent
supporter of school choice.
DeVos is a «strong
supporter of school choice» with «limited experience with public education,» as NPR's Eric Westervelt has reported:

At the crux
of the matter we became charter
school supporters and advocates because we believed in a system where quality education
choices were available to all students, not just those fortunate enough to afford tuition or live in the right neighborhood.
Once a stalwart
of education reform — she served as an assistant education secretary under President George H.W. Bush and was a firm
supporter of No Child Left Behind — Ravitch has soured on the ideas
of charter
schools, vouchers and other
choice initiatives.
The viciousness toward DeVos is animated by several things: She is rich, a
school choice supporter, a Christian, a
school choice supporter, a Republican, and most
of all, a
school choice supporter.
Thankfully Gov. Dannel Malloy — a strong and consistent

schools — swiftly opposed this proposed cut.
Sen. John McCain has shown himself to be a staunch
supporter of charter
schools and
