I've heard about loving people through beatings and muggings - but there is something so dignity shredding about
sexual violence, that the thought

of the violated may also encourage the reconstruction
of our theologies, as the experiences and interpretations
of sexual violence cast new light
on old theological symbols and doctrines.
Pastors attest to the impact
of mentioning the problem
of sexual and family
violence in a sermon or a prayer, or posting information about a rape crisis center or a battered women's shelter
on a bulletin board or mentioning it in a newsletter.
I'm not opposed to shows depicting
sexual violence, but rape - as - prop is always distressing, particularly in a show like this, where that disregard echoes the kinds
of ideas that foster rape culture in the first place: that women's feelings don't matter, that
