The
sheer surreal
amazement of it all.
They have a knack for drawing out the dark and maudlin aspects
of childhood, the loneliness and isolation, as well as the capacity for wonder and
amazement, the
sheer possibility
of anything and everything.
For the rest
of the film, we watch in
amazement as this lone figure faces test after test, surviving each one through
sheer force
of will and physical endurance.
It's a blast,
of course, but once you get over the
sheer amazement that you're playing Uncharted on the move, you'll begin to notice that the right analogue is a bit too loose for targeting (we're eager to see how Call
of Duty handles it), the tiny action buttons an ergonomic - square - millimetre too near the unit's edge to be comfortable for long sessions, the touch - screen interludes unnecessary diversions.
It is,
of course, true that benchmark scores do not always tell the full story, but in this case, we have to take them at face value if only because
of the
sheer jump
amazement that they induce.
