As for «
Short Circuit, «the
film quickly disappoints after a cute opening sequence in which we see the army
present a new breed
of mechanical soldier able to dish out laser shots and withstand any firepower.
Certain Women takes several
short stories by Maile Meloy and uses them to create three only very loosely connected narratives, which are
presented one by one through the bulk
of the
film, before revisiting them all briefly in the finale.

However, that sort
of straightforward approach
present all throughout The East, while coherent, consistently hinders the
film from excelling into anything more than a well - crafted and cogent thriller (which, admittedly, we're in
short supply
of these days).
Continuing the focus
of the three previous London editions on
presenting new work by emerging and established independent filmmakers, the 2016 festival will also include a
short film programme with 15
shorts, including a strand dedicated to UK
shorts screened at Sundance in January.
Deadpool's favorite blind landlord Blind Al, Josh Brolin's Cable and even Deadpool's cabbie friend Dopinder are all
present in this
short teaser
of the

present the best
short films we receive to our readers and, by promoting talented filmmakers at the first steps
of their path to successful careers, help make a difference and enrich the

The Native Filmmakers Lab, now in its second year
of providing dedicated support for
short film projects, allows Fellows to identify and break down challenging scenes from their scripts, rehearse with actors, shoot test scenes, edit footage and
present for constructive critiques.
The
Film Comment
Presents section, an annual feature at NYFF for the last five years, will
present Sergei Loznitsa's «A Gentle Creature,» a new
film inspired by a Dostoevsky
short story, along with a series
of panels and discussions.
Ireland On Sunday
presents the Irish premiere
of new Irish
short film «Tax City», a dark and gritty journey into the heart
of the London homeless community.
Cinema Eye
presented its first Nonfiction
Short Film award (it went to The Poodle Trainer by Vance Malone) and the first Heterodox Award, recognizing fiction
films which imaginatively incorporate nonfiction strategies, content and / or modes
of production.
The «documentary» — which is actually just a series
of clips from
short surrealist
films — also happens to be
presented and hosted by...
It feels like a
film about the importance
of looking not to the
present, but to the future for true salvation — which nicely chimes with King's vocal hatred
of an American commander in chief, a man who seems violently obsessed with the
short game.
After a month
of being free to download on iTunes, the
short joined the
film in theaters in the way it's
