of sincere people are being manipulated and abused by «pastors» absurd claims of being the leader...
If we assume, as I think is reasonable, that the vast majority of these belief systems are the creations
of sincere people striving to understand their god or gods, why do they have nothing in common?
I believe the vast majority of religions are the product
of sincere people trying to fill in holes in their understanding of the universe, the world around them, of the people around them.

I would be very curious to know how or why you believe my rather sarcastic use
of the term «the religious» as a means
of differentiating them from
people of sincere faith (ANY
sincere conviction btw — Not just Protestant) is «specious».
Yet it can not be denied that there are, even today, many who are
sincere in their acknowledgment
of feeling a deep need for mystery in their lives — and such
people are generally members
of some kind
of religious group.
To be sure, in
sincere love for humanity they may care about advancing a program that they believe will enhance the economic and social well - being
of people.
There are indeed many intelligent,
sincere, well - meaning
people who say such things as: «Whatever the controversy, and however strong the scholarly arguments against it, I choose to believe in the supernatural aspects

The idea that «religion» describes
people who are not
sincere in their faith flies in the face
of billions
of actual
people's lived experience.
Have leaders and congregants become so programmed by ecclesiastical tradition as to be
sincere yet misguided in a way that makes Christian community and worship unattractive or even repulsive and not just to
people outside
of the church.
Personally, for instance, I would contend that deliberately induced abortion is wrong and that that conclusion can be reached on the basis
of «utilitarian» (i.e., natural law) analysis; my arguments, however, would not be so clear that no
sincere person could reject them without being suspected
of perversity.

FIX IT and stop punishing the
people who have a
sincere desire to fix it and stop victimizing the
people who left because they were all ready victimized instead
of talking about them in a way that makes it look like it's their fault.

sincere in claiming that atheists have a ``... duty (as if being responsible to some authority) to debunk...» (I presume you to mean a belief in God) ``... via the Internet... [etc]», but when you mix sarcasm with rationality, then you lose creditability with me because you join the ranks
of those who just want to poke fun at believers for entertainment and invite a heated argument with no intentions

To the
people on the left (to use admittedly problematic categories), doing good and being «
sincere» often appear more important than believing correctly, and even the thought
of condemning anyone for heresy seems embarrassing.
There are plenty
of people in churches who are absolutely
sincere in their beliefs.
The Church, teacher
of humanity, never tires
of exhorting
people, especially the young
of whom you are a part, to remain watchful and not to fear choosing «alternative» paths which only Christ can indicate... Jesus calls all his friends to live in sobriety and solidarity, to create
sincere and disinterested emotional relationships with others... From you, dear young students, he asks for honest commitment to study, cultivating a mature sense
of responsibility and a shared interest in the common good.
Those
people were changed so that they cultivated good morals and became
sincere individuals who offered their lives gladly to further the glory
of Islam.
Satan turns the honest and
sincere calling
of people around.
They were
sincere followers
of Islam who strove to be just and tried not to overburden their
people.
And re fruit, although I've met many very nice and
sincere people in churches over the years, I have found them to be like all other
people - a combination
of good and bad traits, common stuff like all humanity.
People really do take notice when they see that you're
sincere about your commitment to the music and to the worship
of God.
A religious
person is one who subscribes to a set
of practices and has a
sincere belief in God.
