Weizmann Institute scientists have demonstrated for the first time a photonic router — a quantum device based on a single atom that enables routing
of single photons by single photons.
We study the group velocity
of single photons by measuring a change in their arrival time that results from changing the beam's transverse spatial structure.
The team demonstrated that this hybrid device enhances the collection efficiency
of single photons by more than a factor of 10 compared to a single nanocrystal without the antenna, without the need for complex and bulky optical collection systems used in many other experiments.

of Tsukuba and Tokuyuki Teraji, principal researcher, Optical and Electronic Materials Unit, NIMS, has successfully fabricated for the first time in the world
single -
photon sources
of SiV (silicon vacancy) centers — one
of the color centers in diamond during the growth
of thin film diamond, which have high purity and crystalline quality —
by introducing them at extremely low concentrations.
In the largest functional brain imaging study to date, the Amen Clinics (Newport Beach, CA) compared 46,034 brain SPECT (
single photon emission computed tomography) imaging studies provided
by nine clinics, quantifying differences between the brains
of men and women.
