This recipe uses the same process as my strawberry banana baked oatmeal, except that I'm using sliced apples and cinnamon
instead of sliced strawberries and vanilla.
Drizzled it with a small amount of bittersweet chocolate after I lightly dusted it with confectioners sugar and served with a dollop of whipped cream and a
spoonful of sliced strawberries.
For breakfast I had a
bowl of sliced strawberries topped with some chopped macadamias, coconut flakes, and a sprinkle of raw cacao nibs.
2 cups strawberries (hulled and quartered, plus a
couple of sliced strawberries for garnish) 1/4 cup basil leaves + several sprigs for garnish (can substitute mint) 1/2 cup cane sugar 2 limes, juiced + I lime in thinly sliced rounds Club soda / seltzer water Ice
Alternatively, you may also include a layer
of sliced strawberries on top of the pastry cream as I originally intended to do but in my hurry to get the cake done, I forgot about until I had covered it with chocolate ganache.
Unwrap and slice the cake in half horizontally, fill with fresh whipped cream or 7 - minute frosting and a layer
of sliced strawberries.
Cover with a layer
of sliced strawberries.
Spread on whipped cream and add a layer
of sliced strawberry «scales.»
I lined the tine with a layer
of sliced strawberries, froze and served semi frozen.
