Mount Snow, Vt. (August 18, 2014)-- Following a variety
of snowmaking projects that began in the spring of 2013 with the goal of improving the system's efficiency and output, Mount Snow announces it will receive delivery of 645 new low - energy snow guns this fall.
The estimated total cost
of these snowmaking efficiency upgrades over the last two years is around $ 2.5 million.
By replacing hundreds of older less efficient snow guns, the resort's entire fleet
of snowmaking equipment will now be comprised of 100 % low energy technology.

of natural snow and high temperatures.
The
snowmaking upgrades, scheduled for completion before the start
of the 2017/18 ski season, will provide Mount Snow with one
of the most powerful
snowmaking systems east
of the Mississippi.
The $ 52 million round is divided between the two projects with $ 30 million going towards the West Lake Water Project, which includes the construction
of a 120 million gallon water storage pond for
snowmaking, three pump houses, new
snowmaking pipelines, trail upgrades and a new ski lift to replace the aging Ski Baba lift.

A combination
of favorable temperatures and a new
snowmaking system which underwent $ 30 million in upgrades, will allow Mount Snow to open with the most terrain in the East at more than 100 acres.
Originally scheduled as a summer project for 2018, Mount Snow managers decided to undertake the widening project after their $ 30 million
snowmaking upgrade, known as the West Lake Water Project, began running comfortably ahead
of schedule.
Another million dollars has been earmarked for upgrades
of the lodge and
snowmaking equipment at the Belleayre ski center in Highmount.
At Sochi, organizers have enlisted three $ 2 million
snowmaking units capable
of creating snow at temperatures up to 70 degrees Fahrenheit to ensure good track coverage at the Nordic combined and ski jump events.
