This course is an introduction to the central theoretical underpinnings
of systemic family therapy, providing a basic framework for assessment and intervention in family problems.
In response to several prior blog posts, many have questioned the necessity
of systemic family therapy for dysregulation that on the surface appears to be centered in the individual.
FAMILY MATTERS CENTER uses the concepts
of Systemic Family Therapy, not placing blame on oneself or others, but works to change our patterns of thinking, communicating, and behaving so that we can get along better with the people we care about.
Integrated Family Therapy's para-modern position holds on to the usefulness of what can be recruited from past years
of systemic family therapy literature such as the patterns and relational factors within families described by Structural family therapists, but equally holds on to the constructed aspects of family life in a social context.
