Wipeout Omega Collection is an excellent remaster, the best way to play the most recent games
of the
franchise.
Even better is the ambient - electronic soundtrack provided by veterans The Future Sound
of London (who have featured on such legendary
franchises as Mortal Kombat and
WipEout), providing a slow pulsating need to push your amoeba - like being and narrative forward.
Games such as Radial G: Racing Evolved, Redout and Fast Racing Neo are all due to land this year, all bearing more than a passing resemblence to
WipEout and F - Zero, but Formula Fusion comes the closest to capturing the spirit
of WipEout since Sony Studio Liverpool was shut down in 2012 which sent shock waves throughout the games industry, effectively wiping out the fabled
franchise.
Big
franchises like F - Zero and
WipEout haven't gotten a lot
of truly new entries in a while.
WipEout Omega Collection contains the complete content from 3 separate games in the
franchise and managed to patch the entirety
of this collection into VR making for probably the most visceral racing experience
of my entire gaming life.

For heaven's sake, Nintendo has all but forgotten the existence
of F - Zero as a
franchise, but at least PlayStation is bringing back
Wipeout, albeit in a collection next month.
