Treatment
There are many ways to treat rabbit
abscesses but much
of it depends on the location and cause
of the infection and the general condition
of the rabbit.

There can be causes
of abscesses other than cat fight wounds, for example foreign bodies such as grass seeds, splinters etc..
There were untreated bacterial, yeast and fungal infections, lameness, parasites
of almost every known kind, coccidia, giardia, campylobacter, bite wounds,
abscesses, hip dysplasia, demodex, luxating patellae, and malformed limbs.
There are many thoughts on how to treat rabbit
abscesses and much depends on the location
of the infection, the cause
of the infection and the general condition
of the bunny.
The oral examination
of your pet tells if your cat or dog is showing signs
of periodontal disease, gum infection or inflammation, if
there are tooth root
abscesses, and if the bones
of your pet's mouth are weakened or diseased.
Overgrown incisor teeth (front teeth) are easy to see by lifting up your rabbit's lips, some tumors and
abscesses are easily identifiable by stroking your rabbit and feeling a lump, nasal or eye drainage is easy to spot if

If an
abscess has formed,
there may be a purplish area
of accumulated pus.
There were large pus - filled
abscesses under each eye from the roots
of teeth that had been decayed and infected.
In rare instances where
there are intestinal complications or the development
of a pancreatic
abscess, surgery may be necessary.
There are many other causes
of swelling in this area such as puncture wounds,
abscesses, infections
of the teeth, and tumors, but most common relate to the salivary glands.
