Though the studio was smart to produce the movie as an animated feature, most

of the best Harry Potter games we've played.

I loved the way it combines a variety
of styles — including some
animation that resembles woodcut and some that
looks like colorful paper puppets — and the way the
animation is made to
look flat in flashbacks so the present - day images pop out at us more vividly.
It is hard sometimes to shake the feeling that this live - action Disney adaptation is relying too much on the 1991
animation, to the point that it almost feels like an extended version
of that film; but even so, it offers a fresh and modern
look at the classic story that makes it worth it.
This second KFP is an enjoyable movie, though I am not sure I can join in with the excitable critical plaudits given to the original and this followup: it's a great -
looking animation and a nice entertainment, though targeted at a younger audience, without the extra level
of adult sophistication.
In choosing the
look of their big - budget production, Lord and Miller stick to that aesthetic, using computer
animation to simulate the surface texture and slightly jerky movement we might expect if someone had orchestrated the entire experience with plastic toys painstakingly repositioned and photographed one frame at a time (according to the press notes, that would have taken no fewer than 15,080,330 bricks).
If you're
looking into
animation, or anything
of the sort, pick this game up for $ 10 and let your imagination run wild.
The
animation and graphics are truly wonderful to
look at, and the voice work and music tie everything together but, the repetition in the puzzles and copious amounts
of backtracking means, it is not as fun to play as it is to
look at.
* Computer -
animation always
looks good on the format, but this direct - to - digital port would've left the home versions
of this year's other CG extravaganzas (Open Season, The Ant Bully, et al) in the dust were it not for the superfluous — and conspicuous, given the preponderance
of black - on - white — application
of edge - enhancement.
SOCOM is not one
of those games going after perfect
looking characters, instead going after nice
looking environments, and good
animations.
Still, the
animation is impressive, an appealing mix
of standard cartoon and CGI that blends well and gives Sinbad a unique
look.
The film is a
look at the fleeting nature
of attraction, all done in stop - motion
animation and with enough imagination to shame most
of its live - action counterparts.
