After decades
of experimenting with eating only whole
foods, vegetarianism, veganism, macrobiotics,
raw foods (both with and without
raw meat), paleo (including nuts), I have settled on a whole
food, seedless, high -
raw, paleo
diet, cooking only with water (steaming, boiling, pressure cooking), and that has brought the greatest results, by
far.

foods «species - appropriate
diets [instead
of raw] to give people a better understanding
of what we're talking about.»
While this may seem like a small sample to draw any definitive results from, the fact that zoonotic bacteria and parasites were found in all samples
of the
raw food diet shows that there is definitely a pattern
of contamination that needs to be researched
further.
This is true regardless
of whether the
food is
raw or cooked, commercial or home prepared, although dogs fed a homemade
raw diet will have
far fewer health problems,
of course.
Raw food advocates everywhere agree that uncooked, meat - based
diets are
far more beneficial to dogs than kibble for a number
of reasons.
Many vets disapprove
of feeding a
raw food diet, especially to compromised dogs (possibly exposing them to
further complications), while other vets suggest that
raw is best for an EPI dog.
Schubert predicts that as the word spreads about
raw diets, manufacturers — many
of which already offer freeze - dried complete
diets and treats in addition to frozen
raw foods — will continue expanding their portfolios, resulting in even more options — activity that should
further fuel demand.
