This is indeed a difficult and yet very interesting subset
of flash fiction... you tackled the
challenge commendably.
Many
flash fiction writers find it both amusing and
challenging to write the shortest story they can manage while still having all the elements
of a story.
Excellent addition to our growing collection
of flash fiction stories in the
challenge.

challenge — I haven't finished it (I've come up with all my ideas but haven't started the actual writing), but I know for a fact that each
of those «500 word pieces) will be at least 3000 words or longer.
