Blank or
unaffiliated voters in New York continue to gain ground
in enrollment with registered Republicans, statistic released Monday by the state Board
of Elections show.
Even further back to the start
of the decade
in April, Republicans had an enrollment
of 2.7 million, with
unaffiliated voters cresting at just over 2 million registrations.
In terms
of registration, Nassau Democrats only slightly outnumber Republicans (by just over 61,000: 397,859 Democrats to 336,289 Republicans) while
unaffiliated independents number 239,242
voters, almost a full quarter
of Nassau's 1,025,598 registered
voters.
There are 15,437
unaffiliated voters in Syracuse — about 22 percent
of the total electorate.
There are also 89,704
unaffiliated voters and 26,820 Independence Party
voters in the district, according to the state Board
of Elections.
Lumaj, who claims he was quietly vetted by the Trump administration for a possible appointment as ambassador to Albania, has been the most outspoken backer
of the president, who remains deeply unpopular with Democratic and
unaffiliated voters in Connecticut.
The poll, a copy
of which was obtained by Capital, surveyed 550 likely Democratic and
unaffiliated voters, between May 22 and May 25, and again on May 27, just a few days before delegates to the party's convention

The other big swing
in 2017 was with
unaffiliated voters, who make up 25 percent
of the district and only accounted for 15 percent

in the 24th Congressional District, but with a large number
