So in the end, we managed to include a solid
amount of voice acting in there for a game that, in its original version, had very little.
It doesn't feel like there's a
lot of voice acting on offer, but what's included is well done, and both the soundtrack and effects are solid.
The
rest of the voice acting cast do a fantastic job at making the remaining characters show their personality and role in the story.
That said, the
inclusion of voice acting is a plus and the updated visuals make for a far more immersive dungeon crawling experience.
Outstanding character takes into consideration the
marriage of voice acting and performance (motion capture work), character design and execution, and writing.
Nevertheless, the amount
of voice acting n - Space squeezed into this game is impressive, as is the sheer attention to detail paid to the guns, character models, and environments.
One of the most crucial elements to any successful survival horror game is the setting and sound, which includes the depth and
authenticity of the voice acting.
The soundtrack is generic and feels like somebody just threw it together using a basic program and the game doesn't have a single
piece of voice acting either.
The worst I can say about them is that the line - readings generally
remind of voice acting in video games, and sometimes they're quite a bit better than that.
In games, we usually only make note of the quality
of voice acting when it is so bad that it can not be ignored.
This coupled with the lack
of voice acting during these encounters along with the relatively linear level structures made for a fair share of dull moments.
As for audio, there's background music at every possible screen, with
plenty of voice acting to make the experience more immersive, the cars sound pretty bang on too.
That's a small
part of voice acting that isn't totally necessary, but absolutely appreciated and really added something extra to the game, considering the volatile personalities of the twins.
One interesting
facet of voice acting, however, is that party members will let you know when you're close to a chest, enemy or materials.
A lot of these guys do a lot
of voice acting so it's fair to say there pretty damn good at their jobs.
The game features a main campaign with a
load of voice acting, and characters to meet along the way.
Again, this is decidedly at odds with the main games in the series, all of which excel in the
areas of voice acting and score.
When voice acted,
most of the voice acting is alright to good; it can come off cheesy but the story is presented somewhat like a cheesy pulp detective novel anyways.
