Moving on with the talk of the ports placement, I haven't been fond of Samsung's placement
of volume rocker keys, but lately, they are making much more sense.
As well as the placement
of the Volume rocker keys and power button, which is also present on the right edge.
There is not much appeal to the design of the device, except it has changed the usual place
of volume rocker keys to the left edge while the power / lock button is on the right edge.
This placement
of volume rocker keys is never an ideal situation for me.
Not exact matches
The power / lock and
volume rocker keys will be placed on the right - hand side
of this tablet, while you'll notice a physical home
key is located below the display, which is placed in - between two capacitive
keys.
The side button arrangement also appears to have been reshuffled, with the right edge accommodating the
volume rocker, as well as both the power and «convenience»
key, while the SIM card tray slot has been repositioned to the opposite left edge
of the device.
Just like the top and bottom, the sides
of the THL W6 don't offer much less the
volume rocker on the left and a Power / Lock
key on the right
The convenience
keys and
volume rockers on the side
of the device don't help much either.
On the right - hand side
of the BlackBerry Leap, you have your
volume up and
volume down
rockers, as well as your mute
key in the middle.
As with most other BlackBerry handsets
of the newer generation, the right spine
of the Tour houses a 3.5 mm headphone jack, a
volume rocker, a dedicated camera
key (which can be customized to serve as another shortcut) and a mini-USB port (for data transfers and power).
One small complaint we have with this slate is the location
of the lock
key and
volume rocker.
Hardware controls can be found along the top edge, in the form
of a
volume rocker and power
key, while the right edge houses microSD and headphone ports.
A power
key is located on the right - hand side
of the top panel, opposite a 3.5 mm headphone jack, while the
volume rocker sits towards the top
of the right - hand side.
The right side
of the device will contain three buttons, which will likely be the power button,
volume rocker, and the convenience
key, that is primarily used for jumping across different applications quickly.
On the right - hand side
of the BlackBerry Classic, you have your
volume up and
volume down
rockers as well as your mute
key in the middle
of the two.

We often found ourselves reaching for the function
keys to adjust
volume instead
of using the dedicated
rocker.
Around the sides
of the SamTab you'll find a
volume rocker, standby / power
key and that's all.
Around the rest
of the body you'll find a
volume rocker and camera button, and the power / lock
key, but otherwise it is relatively button free.
The sleep / wake
key resides at the top
of the tablet (when held in portrait), and next to it on the right edge is the
volume rocker.
The buttons are made
of metal and they include a
volume rocker and a lock / power
key on the right side if you're holding the Springboard in portrait mode (front - facing camera on top).
The
volume rocker and a power / lock
key are present on the left and right side
of the phone.
A few
key buttons and ports sit along the edges
of the tablet, including a power button,
volume rocker, Micro USB, headphone jack, and MicroSD card slot.
Around the right - hand side there's a Micro USB port alongside a power button,
volume rocker, and a flap to access the microSD port — having more than the included 32 GB or 64 GB
of storage is
key on a Windows device like this.
Some miscellaneous nitpicks while I have you here: the tablet's
volume rocker doesn't adapt to landscape mode, so pressing the right side
of the
volume key lowers the
volume, even though the tablet's visuals indicate that higher
volume should be to the right.
The same
key is said to double as a fingerprint scanner, with the right edge
of the phone housing a power button and a conventional
volume rocker, both
of which are depicted in the latest render.
The Lenovo K8 Note comes with three sets
of physical
keys, the power / lock and
volume rocker keys are included on the right - hand side
of the device, while a dedicated music
key can be found on the left - hand side
of this phone.
The familiar rear -
key button setup is also gone, with a
volume rocker now located on the left hand side
of the phone and the power button integrated in the new finger scanner on the back, which is now flat compared to the G4's curved rear.
The power button is located about a third
of the way down the right side, while the
volume rocker and Active
key are located in a similar spot on the left edge.
The sleep / wake
key resides at the top
of the tablet (when held in portrait), and next to it on the right edge is the
volume rocker.
The ZenPad 3S 10 features a microSD card near the top
of the left edge, while the
volume rocker and power / sleep
key on the right.
You'll find that the power / lock
key on the right, and the
volume rocker on the left, fall easily under thumb and finger when you're holding the phone in portrait, and OnePlus continues with its notification slider on the side
of the handset, allowing you to easily switch between silent, do not disturb and loud modes.
The first big change is having physical power and
volume keys on the front
of the left edge
of the machine — the
volume rocker is there for use when in tablet mode (there are standard keyboard
volume keys), but the power button is actually the only way to turn the laptop on and off with a physical switch.
The
volume rocker, on the other hand, has been wobblier on all the units we've tested, and we've also seen numerous reports
of other users finding their
volume keys wobblier than the power button (and they can sound differently, too).
The design is largely minimalistic with only the
volume rocker and the power / display
key on the right
of the device, the left side totally bare, the micro USB port and speaker on the base, and the SIM card tray and the 3.5 mm audio jack bang on top.
The placement
of the headphone jack, microUSB port and machine drilled speaker holes on the base mimic the iPhone 6, while the change from a
volume rocker to separate metal
keys on the left also suggests a Cupertino influence.
Volume rocker keys and the power button are on the right while a 3.5 mm headset jack along with speaker grille is present at the bottom
of the device.
The Mate S has the power
key and the
volume rocker on the right, whereas the Note 5 has the
volume keys on the left and the power
of the right.
Despite the significant departure from the norm, there's no mistaking either the Galaxy S6 or the S6 Edge as anything other than a Samsung device, with both devices retaining
key signature elements, with classic layout
of a physical home button flanked by Back and Recent Apps
keys still found up front, along with the power button and
volume rocker found on their usual sides, to the right and left respectively.
The
volume rocker and programmable Convenience
Key live on the right edge, both
of which are easy to get at with your right thumb.
On the left side
of the phone, you get a
volume rocker and Micro-USB port; there's a microSD expansion slot and dedicated camera
key on the right.
The design similarities
of the Idol 4 are carried over to the chamfered metal sides, with a rather unusual placement
of the power / display button on the top left side and the presence
of a round «customisable»
key in the middle
of the right side, above which lies the
volume rocker, and below which is the SIM and memory card slot.
The textured power / lock
key and
volume rocker are easy to locate on the right side
of the phone, while your 2 - in - 1 nanoSIM and microSD tray resides on the top
of the U Play.
The Meizu MX5's audio slot is located on the upper side
of the handset, while the power
key and the
volume rocker are on the right side.
Left side
of the Redmi Note is completely bare with no control while its right side has a power / lock
key and a
volume rocker with a metal finish.
On the right side
of the phone you'll find the power / lock
key, as well as the device's
volume rocker buttons.
In terms
of physical controls, the new Zenfone smartphone has a power / lock
key and a
volume rocker on the right.
The trademark rounded power button is found two - thirds
of the way up the right edge, within easy thumb reach, and beneath it sits the
volume rocker and two - stage shutter
key.
The left side
of the phone holds the lock / power button while the right side comes with the
volume rocker and a customizable
key which you can use to launch any
of your favorite apps.
On the left side
of the phone is the power button, with the right side hosting a
volume rocker and a dedicated shortcut
key.
