I've done more that my fair share
of wallpaper removal and Lord willing - I hope to NEVER do it again.
I'm not a fan
of the wallpaper removal task so I'm forever thankful that it was done for me.
We did so much manual labor on this room, 3 years worth
of wallpaper removal, painting, repainting, repainting again, custom mill work, caulking, priming, painting the beams (8 coats to get them white, mind you).
It's been a pretty normal week
of wallpaper removal — I'm like a wallpaper terminator, I just can't stop — and feeling generally fine.

of plasterboard above a fireplace by Lawrence Weiner, a quote for professionally repainting a wall by Barry Flanagan, as well as a Sol LeWitt wall drawing, a gridded
wallpaper pasting by Richard Wentworth and a «white line
of a hand's breadth» as proposed by Blinky Palermo.
The idea that a white wall is a neutral context for painting is nothing new, however; this notion has been challenged since the early days
of Modernism saw the
removal of patterned
wallpaper and silk from studios and salons.
Choose things that absolutely need to be done — like new
wallpaper where it's obviously peeling, or the
removal of dozens
of stuffed animals on the living room sofa.
Today so many
of the
wallpapers are much easier to remove so don't let the
removal process (or fear
of hating it later) scare you out
of it if you really want the look.
