First of all, there are some
sources of white refined sugar that are not made via the process you describe, and it's not always easy to tell which kind you're getting.
If you love ketchup but have never read the nutrition label of a standard bottle, you may be surprised to know that it contains sugar — usually in the
form of white refined sugar or high fructose corn syrup (if you're in the US).
They use Oat Flour instead of white refined flour, Maple Syrup
instead of white refined sugar, and Ghee (or coconut oil if you're making them vegan) instead of butter.
