paint small pinecones
in three complementary hues — here we used blue,
white, and silver — and accent with small items such as stars and a length
of chiffon ribbon.

of spraying of primer (that I added
paint thinner to
in order to thin it down for the sprayer) and then a coat
of white.

PARTY SECRET: The bases
of the toadstools are made from an 8 ″ concrete form sawed
in pieces and
spray painted white.
Instead
of basic
white paint, Sarah had an artisan
spray the walls with a watered - down blend
of several creamy hues before troweling the plaster — yielding a rich effect with tinges
of gray and putty and yellow that's different
in every room.
To bring all
of the different elements together, I
spray painted the entire piece
in Rustoleum Gloss
White.
