For those
of you that don't know me, I'm Chef Dennis and it's my great pleasure today to be here with you today and share a new cookie recipe with you.I have to start out by saying that while I'm not really a baker, it is something that I truly enjoy doing.While I have made my fair share
of cakes and pies, cookies are one treat that has eluded me.I do have my one go to cookie, courtesy
of Alice Medrich, but I've pretty much beaten that one into the ground this year, and I knew I needed to expand my cookie repertoire.I started going through my
cookbooks looking for inspiration, there were so many
wonderful cookies to choose from, but in the end I decided upon a cookie that I had seen in my wife's December edition
of Real Simple.The cover
of the issue simply stated «30 impressive make - ahead cookies» and as I looked through the magazine, nothing really grabbed me and then I turned the page to the last cookie, and there it was.......
I decided this would be first recipe I'd make from the
cookbook (which I've been reading like a novel since I got it for Christmas), and like all
of your recipes, it was
wonderful and came out exactly as described.
This is a recipe that was invented by my
wonderful mother — a combination
of a Dutch Chocolate Chip Cake that my Auntie Gladys used to made and a Pecan Oatmeal Cake that my mom found in the Congressional
Cookbook that she got as a wedding gift over 35 years ago.
All
of that to say, your cook book is as beautiful as I expected and has such an awesome blend
of daring new flavors and
wonderful comfort food, I'm pretty sure this will be my favorite
cookbook to come back to forever, and hopefully one day my children will beg for me to pass it on and I will greedily clutch it until my last days.
I did feel that it was missing that «zing» that is in those
wonderful little packets... I have long been a fan
of Mezzetta «tamed jalapeño peppers»... I added an extra tablespoon
of the «juice» that these peppers come with to your recipe, and I believe it made a big difference and more closely resembled the real recipe... I hope that helps... I own three if your
cookbooks and I love them!
I have made many
wonderful dishes off
of this site and I am excited to * hopefully * unwrap your
cookbook on Christmas morning as it is on my list.

wonderful and though I do not follow a gluten or dairy - free diet by necessity, I look forward to making more

Mediterranean Paleo Cooking is a

cookbook written by my friend Caitlin Weeks who is a Nutrition Consultant and author
of the popular blog, www.GrassFedGirl.com, her husband, Nabil Boumrar, who is a phenomenal chef in San Francisco, and Diane Sanfilippo, best selling author
of Practical Paleo.
She compiled a
wonderful cookbook of meals that can be prepped ahead
of time, stored in the freezer and then literally just dumped in a slow - cooker to cook during the day.
There are (obviously) tons

cookbooks out there, but in the beginning, I recommend you keep it simple.
