of the Prom King who suspects he's cheating on her, takes one look at Sarah, his alleged lover, and decides, nah, she isn't pretty enough so therefore he must not be cheating.

of this wonderfulness and to help launch my new

of books, I've been scouring the web, the bookshelves, and my scattered brain for all the Seussical fun I could find for my
little people and yours.

Wonderful Word Adventure
Indeed, I still read the printed pages - what a
wonderful smell, the feel
of real paper, the rustling
of it, the
little notes I sometimes write next to the text (or used to), the ability to pass the same
book, with inscriptions, to the children who might pass them on to theirs... and someday, those
little hands that hold the very same
book will associate a grandparent with it.
I'm here today to tell you about a
wonderful new opportunity for all
of you sad,
little self - publishing authors out there whose
books no - one's ever heard
of.
Not only because the writing has a distinct Irish lilt but because each short chapter ends with a musical score for an Irish jig, so unless one happens to be a dab hand on the keyboard, or better still, the fiddle, there is an element
of the
book that one misses out on (in fact it's a
little frustrating that this otherwise
wonderful book, winner
of the Guardian and Whitbread children's
book awards, doesn't come with an attached CD for the musically - challenged amongst us).
It's no less true for an author: selling a
book to someone ill - suited to your writing (or even «meh» about it) is great for that 64 cents (the royalty a paperback pays), but not so
wonderful, as the reader who feels was ripped off is going to take it out on your reputation (because most readers have no idea how
little of that cover price goes to the author.
The
book is composed
of short vignettes, some only a page, each a
wonderful little appetizer describing in gorgeous prose a city
of fantasy, a city whose design speaks to an aspect
of the human condition.
Practical tips like this one on back covers are
wonderful for someone like me who is not yet published and might not think about all the standard
little details that go into each aspect
of a finished
book product.
