First
of all, the Snow Day coffee roast by Stumptown (I picked mine up at Sidecar Donuts); secondly, these radical paintings by Leap Year Illustration; thirdly, every pair

Not only are these pretty tasty, they were made in honor

yoga teachers, Nancy, who I have been missing terribly since they changed

Flexibility and strength are the two main
things that spring to our mind when we think
of Yoga.
I have tried so many
things and do many
of the
things you do to calm my nervous system (i.e. meditate,
yoga, breath work...), but what I found most helpful in terms
of easing an anxiety attack is to use grounding techniques, like moving awareness to my feet or anywhere in my body that feels calm, even if it's just a toe — and then adding self soothing talk
of «I'm safe» or anything positive for that matter.
In addition to medication (Zoloft and very occasionally 1/2
of a Xanax), the laundry list
of things that are helping me recover (in no particular order) includes: sleep, finding more time for myself,
yoga, exercise, abdominal breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, meditation, educating myself by reading books and web sites about anxiety disorder — what causes it, who it often affects, how to deal with it, etc., seeing a therapist on a regular basis, reiki, taking vitamins and supplements, and reducing my commitments.

things - motherhood and exchange her fabulous outfit for a pair
of yoga pants.
And the terrific
thing is that
yoga is one
of the forms
of exercise that you can do all the way through to the end
of your pregnancy.
It's really important for them to work with some
of the accommodations that are made it a prenatal
yoga class because there are certain simple
things like in the very beginning stages
of pregnancy, a woman should not do deep abdominal twists, there are a lot
of twists that happen in
yoga.
So I did it probably for ten, twelve sessions, and to me, the biggest benefit was just keeping me really balanced throughout the pregnancy, with the twin pregnancy I just felt really large and
things got pretty uncomfortable towards the end, so I think for me the prenatal
yoga helped me just stay balanced and also really aware
of my body, and I think that helped with the birth experience, helping me be aware
of my position and my posture, so I did an unmedicated labor with my twins as well, so I could just really think about if I am sitting up, opening my pelvis, and be aware
of that.
These
things included prenatal
yoga, chiropractic care, acupuncture, massage therapy, psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, a doula also seeking a VBAC, meditation / visualization, reading, exercise, a well - managed diet (no more Hagen - Daaz), all
of which were practiced and administered by a network
of people who were very familiar with each other - a family if you will.
Instead
of taking care
of themselves — with
things like
yoga or meditation, going to therapy or relying on their friends or faith — they often regress and «behave in immature ways,» he says.
