We have been working on the
kitchen / eating

Designer Ingrid Oomen was faced with a challenge; to create for a client a
kitchen, an eat - in
area and a family room that were light and airy as well as family friendly, and all this from a
kitchen which originally was very long and very dark and completely closed
off from the rest
of the house.
The open - planned space allows ease
of access from the
kitchen to the dining
area and prevents whoever's cooking from feeling cut
off.
I did have like twin parlours so I did have to place one
of my couches just inside
of the pocket doors and kept the doors mostly closed.My
kitchen had a butlers pantry
off of it, a door to the actual dining room, a door to the basement, a door to the porch, a door to the bathroom, a door to the upstairs maid
area, and 2 windows.
I the
area is just
off my
kitchen before entering the family room so I think I'll add black chalk paint to one
of the doors and peg board to the other and turn this into our communications center.
Also a rear deck
off of the
kitchen / dining
area features a table with seating for 4.
