The first two coats will be water based, and the third will be a hard coating
oil based seal for maximum durability.
If you're using an oil - based paint it's best to use
an oil based sealer though.
We do need «flooring» to close though, but we figured out that sealed concrete counts as flooring... so we scraped, cleaned, and sealed it with

based primer paint or spray over the stain to
seal it, and then you can cover it with any paint and colour you choose.
Using kilz
oil base primer should keep the cabinets from yellowing and limit the paint chipping after the whole process because it's
sealing in all of the dark color and
oil base paint is more durable than latex.
The
oil base primer keeps the cabinets from yellowing later on because it
seals in the old color / stain color and lessens the risk of the paint chipping off later.You don't «have to» prime with chalk paint, but I would not recommend skipping
oil base primer when painting kitchen cabinets.
I used a wax
sealer because I was seeing some slight bleed through spots and
sealing in wax helps to minimize bleed through since it is an
oil based product.
