Oil palm genome sequence reveals divergence of interfertile species in Old and New worlds» and «The oil palm SHELL gene controls oil yield and encodes a homologue of SEEDSTICK» will be published online ahead of print in Nature on Wednesday, July 24, 2013.
The goal of the Malaysian
Oil Palm Genome Programme (MyOPGP) is to produce a draft sequence of the
oil palm genome.
Conclusions We present an accurate and comprehensive annotation of
the oil palm genome, focusing on analysis of important categories of genes (GC3 - rich and intronless), as well as those associated with important functions, such as FA biosynthesis and disease resistance.
This paper presents the characterization of
the oil palm genome using different gene prediction methods and comparative genomics analysis, identification of FA biosynthesis and disease resistance genes, and the development of an annotation database and bioinformatics tools.
