oil etc), as well as
recipes for homemade treatments (face masks, exfoliators,
oil pulling etc) and posts on some of the best natural beauty brands for makeup, deodorant, toothpaste, shampoo,
skin care etc, for those of you that aren't ready to be total hippies just yet!
1 c celery, diced 1 c carrots, diced 1 large yellow onion, diced small 1 1/2 cups olive
oil 5 cloves garlic, crushed (not minced) 3 large eggplants, half the
skin removed in strips with a vegetable peeler, cut into 1 - inch chunks 1/2 c capers in water, drained 1 1/2 c pitted green olives, sliced 1 c pine nuts 2 Tbsp brown sugar 1/2 c red wine vinegar 2 c Fabio's Tomato Sauce (see
recipe below) mixed with 2 Tbsp tomato paste 1 bunch basil, leaves only Salt and pepper Zest of 1 lemon Mint leaves for garnish
Five Spice Apple Braised Whole Chicken (inspired by Fit Daffy's Chinese Poached Chicken
recipe) Ingredients: 1 whole chicken -
skinned and trimmed excess fat as much as possible without tearing the meat 1 Tbsp avocado
oil or coconut
oil (or any high heat cooking
oil of your choice — just don't use vegetable / seed oils!)
I've used straight coconut
oil as a moisturizer before, but found it very greasy and messy — this
recipe makes it much more pleasant to put on, and it seems to absorb better into my
skin this way.
I do not have overly dry
skin, but am going to make this
recipe, because I know the benefits of coconut
oil.
Avocado
Oil: SPF 4 — easily penetrates the
skin and provides it with deep moisture and a protective barrier, contains the antioxidant Vit E, which is protective against UV rays and can be used as a natural preservative for this
recipe
1/4 cup Recado Rojo (see above
recipe) or substitute achiote paste 1/2 cup bitter orange juice (see
recipe below) or freshly squeezed orange juice 4 chicken breasts,
skin removed 1 medium onion, sliced 3 fresh xcatic chiles, stems and seeds removed, chopped or substitute fresh banana or guero chiles 1 tablespoon vegetable
oil Banana leaves or aluminum foil 4 sprigs fresh epazote or substitute 1 tablespoon dried epazote
1/2 cup tamarind pulp 3/4 cup water 4 green chiles such as jalapeños, seeds and stems removed, sliced into rings 1 cup chopped shallots 5 cloves garlic, minced 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh ginger 3 tablespoons vegetable
oil 1 teaspoon ground cayenne 1 3 - pound chicken,
skinned, boned, and cut into 1 - inch cubes 1 1/2 cups coconut milk, see
recipe, here 4 green New Mexican chiles, roasted and peeled, stems and seeds removed, chopped
ingredients MARINATED CHICKEN: 1/2 cup olive
oil 6 chicken thighs (bone - in,
skin - on) 1 jalapeno (split lengthwise) 4 cloves garlic (peeled, smashed) 1 peel of lemon Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper (to taste) SMOTHERED CHICKEN: 3 tablespoons unsalted butter 1
recipe marinated chicken 1 onion (peeled, thinly sliced) 2 cloves garlic (peeled, minced) 3 tablespoons all - purpose flour 1/2 cup chicken stock 1 cup whole milk 1 bunch fresh parsley (finely chopped, to garnish) Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper (to taste) RICE: 1 1/2 cups long - grain rice (rinsed) Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper (to taste)

During the session, we learned things like a new method for cutting avocados, called the Nick n» Peel method, that helps you conserve the good stuff in the bright green fleshy part of the avocado nearest the
skin, and how to use avocado as a substitute for butter or

Recipe 3 cups old - fashioned rolled oats 3 tablespoons unsweetened natural cocoa powder 3 tablespoons virgin coconut
oil 3 tablespoons creamy almond butter 1/3 cup pure maple syrup 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla 1 cup coarsely chopped hazelnuts (toasted and

This do - it - yourself toner
recipe is a simple way to incorporate tea tree
oil into your pregnancy

Ingredients: • 1 pound pasta (of your choice, gluten free works well with this
recipe) • 2 small acorn squash • 2 Tbsp olive
oil • 1 medium onion • 1/3 cup fresh basil — washed and chopped • 1 tsp salt • 1 Tbsp coconut
oil • 1 cup soft goat cheese • 1 - 2 Tbsp rice milk (original and unsweetened) Please note: the last 3 ingredients can be replaced with one cup of heavy cream if cow dairy is not a concern for your family Instructions: • Cut squash in half and onions is quarters, drizzle with olive
oil • Place squash cut side down in a baking dish, surround with the onions and cover with aluminum foil • Bake at 400o for 30 - 40 min or until the squash is tender • Cook the pasta according to package directions • In a small sauce pan melt coconut
oil, add goat cheese and allow to melt — stirring consistently • Add rice milk until desired consistency • Remove the squash flesh from the
skin and place the flesh in the food processor with the onion, salt and basil — puree until smooth • Slowly add the melted goat cheese mixture while continuing to puree until you have a smooth sauce • Toss the squash / cheese mixture with the pasta and serve this delicious healthy kids meal

oil is gaining popularity for its health benefits, versatile flavor in cooking, and uses in
skin, hair and beauty
recipes.
This
recipe uses coconut
oil for its amazing
skin benefits, and some lighter sweet almond
oil to tone it down while still moisturizing.
I would like to use your
recipe to make an
oil infusion for
skin / beard with whole herbs and pure rum extract for the rum fragrance.
I make magnesium
oil (here is the
recipe) and apply to the
skin for best absorption and I also often take an oral supplement.
We will only use Unrefined, organic coconut
oil in cooking, but a cheaper expeller pressed
oil could be used in
skin recipes to save money (though by ordering in bulk, we still get the good stuff for cheaper than the expeller pressed in the long run!).
This simple sugar scrub
recipe uses coconut
oil, organic sugar, castor
oil, coffee and vanilla for a fragrant sugar scrub that leaves
skin soft and silky.
I doubled the
recipe and did the seabass separately under the grill (3 mins on a baking tray,
skin up, w /

recipes are natural and safe even for sensitive
skin and babies (though I wouldn't use the pain relief on on small children), but I've had several readers ask about what to do if they couldn't use coconut
oil due to an allergy.
