old laptop design with a touch screen bolted on.

Not too long ago, the software giant released its Surface line of tablet /
laptop devices, proving that it doesn't need Nokia's
old design ideas.
However, the Air's basic
design hasn't been revised in years, it still has a non-Retina 1440 × 900 display and
older Broadwell Core i5 and i7 processors, and it doesn't have the great Force Touch trackpad found on every other current Apple
laptop.

laptops showed they could have sleek
designs with great battery life; monitors grew even larger and got more pixels; and the lowly Chromebook was imbued with new life (and a stylus).
