Over the last few years, and particularly in recent months, the home studio where the 83 - year -
old painter Rose Wylie has lived and worked for decades in Kent, England has undergone what amounts to a décor change.
Perched atop a
rise in a 250 - acre landscape with sweeping views of the Hudson River, the Arabesque confection is filled to the brim with Chinese tiles, Indian woodwork, Middle Eastern carpets, Persian ceramics, Mexican sombreros and folk art, pre-Columbian artifacts, and
old master and nineteenth - century paintings, all picked up during the
painter's trips to Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East or at dealers in New York City.
