Stiglitz told us that this decades -
old debate about how to balance the
creation of short - term and long - term value is recently gaining new life in the US because
of the venomous class class tensions and ugly politics arising out
of income inequality, and because people in positions
of power are looking at the big
picture and realizing that something has to change.
As a consequence, the
old theology de-emphasized or conveniently ignored the fact
of the resurrection
of the body and the redemption
of material
creation and spoke instead and almost exclusively
of the salvation
of the soul
pictured as being supratemporal and metaphysical.
In the
older story
of creation, she was even
pictured as an afterthought, made not on an equality with man but as a by - product; and, along with the serpent, she was represented as responsible for Adam's fall and was specially cursed with travail in childbirth as a penalty.
