time a dog is a few weeks
old what type of coat it will have, and can help match you to the best coat type for your situation.

Most
breeders can recognize the disease in the puppy by the
time it is six to eight weeks

You need to be very selective in choosing an
old time, reputable
breeder.
I later spayed my current border collie (3 or 4 yrs

breeder should be the first registered keeper of the puppy — they are breaking the law if they do not register the puppy by the
time he or she is eight weeks

A lot of people won't get rescue dogs because of their unknown history and they'd rather buy a puppy or an
older dog that has been «run on» (to see if it is up to show or breeding standard) from a good
breeder — because that
breeder will know the temperaments of the parents and can also usually tell the character of the pup by the
time they are ready to go to their new homes — and most certainly not at 8 weeks — mine NEVER leave until at least 12 weeks!
Usually
breeders make kittens available between twelve and sixteen weeks of age, when they have had sufficient
time with their mother and littermates to be well socialized and
old enough to have been fully vaccinated.
I got a two months
old puppy from the
breeder who seemed to be reputable, but the dog turned to be very aggressive and bit me multiple
times for no apparent reasons.
Choosing your
breeder carefully, for awareness of problems and for evidence of specific actions taken consistently over a period of
time to prevent these problems, will greatly increase your chances of getting a healthy dog with the potential to live to a ripe
old age.
Many
times breeders have
older dogs available that they've decided to place in new homes.
Better
breeders will work on handling from the
time the puppies are born and will do basic training once they're
older (they may even housebreak and crate train the puppy, too - BIG bonus!).
