I guess one great thing about this color is that it perfectly goes well with the dusty
textured walls of downtown
old Dubai.

Wall demonstrates exemplary
texturing on miles of
old brickwork, cooling under a yellow sky and hazy sunlight; Coniferous Forest is, unsurprisingly, a meandering road through a green forest; while Desert presents the biggest challenge so far with some evil hairpins, compensating drivers with some truly jaw dropping scenery - the sand, pyramids and palm trees look great.
Normally in
older homes that have somewhat of an «alligator»
texture to the
walls its because of multiple coats of paint and multiple crappy prep jobs.
hideous 30 - year
old orange peal
textured walls (like really bad bad
texture, not new slightly bad
texture).
That first coat of green is the same color I had custom - mixed to match our 130 - year
old wall boards, but I also want to add one more layer of
texture / color, so I'll be painting on a bit of «Layla's Mint» milk paint when it arrives this afternoon.
I don't actually call my style this to others but in repsonse to this Q I'm thinking «Ballard Barn»:)... neutral different yet complementary gray toned
walls throughout our open concept home downstairs... darker wood floors... leather sofas... newly remodeled white kitchen... white cabinets on perimeter with gray Quartz counters... large
Old world mahogany island with creamy granite that looks like marble with more colors with chrome pulls on both... lots of
textures throughout (grain sack pillows, chunky handmade by my mom throws)... artwork from my talented teenage daughter (straight knock off of Ballard styles of 3 horses.
My kids are getting
older so I made their «play room» into a living room with this diy faux brick
wall for
texture.
They began by sanding down all the
walls, removing the
old carpet and stripping the
textured wallpaper from the ceiling.
Cool and classic bathroom styles never grow
old — here, a slate

texture and depth to an otherwise plain white bathroom.

I've had many white
walls in my homes but the
wall texture usually is so gorgeous by themselves that they don't need a color, like my
old plaster
walls or wood
walls.
Although we didn't start over on our upstairs bathroom, first we stripped wallpaper off of
old painted plaster, except for what we didn't get off because it looked like it was helping hold the paint / plaster together, then we used joint compound for a very heavy
texture to hold the
walls together and cover the lead - based paint.
I am about todo this technique on a
wall in my house (the
old 70's fake wood paneling) it is already rough
textured.
These narrow shutters align along the window trim to add
old - timey
texture to the
wall and make the window appear larger than its dimensions.
So often large commercial spaces like this lack warmth without the addition of textiles, so instead we created a feeling of warmth by working with materials which gave the illusion of
texture - such as coating the bar in brushed copper sheeting, and covering the back
wall with wallpaper which replicates an
old flint
wall.
