in terms of the tone used by the lunch room volunteers — I will say that my two
kids are now
old veterans of
public elementary
school lunch rooms and they've certainly endured their share of barking lunch room monitors.
This isn't to say that these officials don't care about these children, but that they are disinterested
in taking on the tough work needed to overhaul districts and

schools they deserve — which includes challenging the soft bigotry of low expectations for poor and minority
kids held by far too many adults working

in keeping the
Old Dominion's status quo quite ante.

school police officer handcuffing an eight - year -
old kid in special ed once again cast light on how American
public education has escalated overuse of harsh discipline by using law enforcement to deal with behavioral issues that should be handled by teachers and
school leaders.
But
public schools aren't the only institutions receiving
public money to educate
kids; Wisconsin is home to three robust parental choice programs — the
oldest in the country
in Milwaukee, as well as growing endeavors
in Racine and statewide.
