Oligofructose stimulates calcium absorption according to this article on nutrition.org, the mechanism is explained by the increase
in the microbial gut flora, and the fermentation of the FOS

The CSPI give SAFE for Inulin and
Oligofructose, though they do not specifically mention FOS, it is almost identical
in it's effects.
