on the U.S - Mexico border, was nominated in Best Picture, Best Director (Denis Villeneuve), Best Supporting Actor (Benicio Del Toro), Best Original Screenplay (Taylor Sheridan), Best Editing (Joe Walker) and Best Cinematography (Roger Deakins).
So much of
Sicario, Denis Villeneuve's disturbing drama set in the world of law enforcement and Mexican drug cartels (the title is the Mexican term for a hit man), takes place
on Emily Blunt's face.
That's the most haunting part of «
Sicario» — there isn't hope in the war
on drugs and the movie perfectly states it in the final act.

For all of its superb, shock - and - awe - generating visuals — aided by oft - nominated master cinematographer Roger Deakin's (

Sicario, was one 2015's most refreshing hits, a bloody crime thriller lathered in grit and tension.
This is around a month after the Cannes Film Festival, where
Sicario received its world premier in 2015, but it's currently unclear whether this new instalment will receive a similar treatment before going
on to a wide release.
