Truvia might be a good substitute if you have that
on hand, since it combines stevia and erythritol!
When it comes to
Truvia, I am
on the fence.
After researching
on the net, I found that
Truvia and Puriva stevia products contained fillers so I tried Stevia in the Raw.
Also, I have stevia powder
on hand, but it seems I can't use JUST that (no
Truvia, erythriitol, etc, or sugar), right?
have not seen the package
on Purevia, however,
Truvia has other ingredients in it... which I can not pronounce and don't know what it is.
FYI — I substituted a hot chocolate mix I had for the cacao and
truvia for the stevia, as I didn't have the listed ingredients
on hand, and added a touch of vanilla.
Despite a full FDA approval, word of Stevia spread, and so today, Cargill, an industrial food producer
on the same level of Monsanto, has created a «Stevia based product» called
Truvia, which is now being tested for use in diet drinks and other consumables.
A group of researchers in Philadelphia tested various non-nutritive sweeteners
on fruit flies, and found that erythritol in
Truvia is the only sweetener that robustly kills the flies.
I got some all - natural maple extract from totonac (
on amazon), added some
truvia baking mix along with a little xanthan gum, reduced it
on the stove, and voila — maple syrup!
Be
on the lookout during this challenge for: dextrose, maltodextrin, sucrose, fructose, cane sugar, evaporated cane juice, acesulfame potassium (sold as Sweet One — often combined with aspartame or sucralose to sweeten gum, diet soda and other sweet products), aspartame (Nutri - sweet and equal), saccharin (sold as Sweet n» Low), stevia (combined with sugar alcohol and sold under brand names like
Truvia and Pure Via), erythritol (a sugar alcohol derivative of corn) xylitol, brown rice syrup (and other syrups), high fructose corn syrup (made by treating starch extracted from corn with enzymes to make fructose and glucose)-- and if there's anything
on a food label that you think might be sugar, google it.
I used one egg, 1/4 cup Native Forest organic coconut milk (the best), 1/2 scoop
ON Gold Standard vanilla whey protein, 1/2 tbsp extra virgin cold pressed coconut oil, 1/2 tsp vanilla bean paste, 1 tsp
truvia, some ice and a little water.
The main stevia product
on the market is
Truvia, sold by Cargill and the Coca Cola Company.
I used Garadelli unsweetened powder and substituted
Truvia (used 2tsp) as that is what I had
on hand.
I made this using the
Truvia for baking because I had it
on hand.
Add the softened cream cheese,
truvia, vanilla extract and heavy cream to the bowl of your stand mixer and whip
on medium speed until fully combined.
Conclusions:
Truvia is one of the better zero calorie sweeteners
on the market, though not all people have given it favorable reviews.
Again, this changes with what I have
on hand but one of my favorite combos is said squash with almond butter, honey and some
Truvia.
I mentioned
on your FB post for the chocolate chip cookies that I substituted the brown sugar with the
Truvia brown sugar blend.
