Dr. Mathis Wackernagel is a panelist
on Whole Earth Systems at the St. Louis Climate Summit.

Jesus said the
whole world is lying in the power of satan and that he is god of this
system of things, the ruler of the world, and that he is misleading the entire inhabited
earth so if you just worship the god of this world, no matter which religion, it is satan, «for a little while longer» but he also taught his father's name was to be called
on to resist this creature so use his name «Jehovah» if you want results or serve «the god of this
system», «the ruler of this world» (see 1 John 5:19, Rev. 12:9 - 12, John 8:44,45,14:30;!
«A forest die - off over a large area like the Amazon Basin, could have a major impact
on Earth's
system as a
whole,» said Berry.
«This provides good insight
on how
Earth's
system works as a
whole.»
What could be a more fascinating — or complex — natural
system than the
whole history of life's diversity
on Earth?
Jim Green: The Snowball
Earth era reminds me of several objects in the Solar
System now that we're trying to study, one of which is Europa, [which has] got this fabulous icy crust over the
whole moon and underneath it perhaps as much as twice the volume of water than exists here
on Earth.
Given the depredations of the human species (as a
whole)
on the
Earth's other life forms and living
systems, environmental conservation is indeed a praiseworthy goal.
It is a

A schematic of the solar
system, where the energy received by the
earth is the sunlight intercepted by its cross-section, and where the heat loss
on average is due to thermal emission from the
whole surface area of the planet.
On top of what you described, I would add another layer — that the
Earth as a
whole is a far - from - equilibrium
system, and is constantly in a process of DOING WORK — instilling order out of incident energy.
AGW means that the heat content of the
whole Earth system increases, but it does not make unique predictions
on the relative rates of warming of various parts of the
Earth system over periods up to a couple of decades.
The early Anthropocene hypothesis goes against strong evidence, provided by Crutzen, Will Steffen and other researchers, that only with the beginning of the industrial revolution can we detect a human influence
on the functioning of the
Earth system as a
whole.
By picking one specific area of only one of the spheres (surface temperatures), while it might be one piece of interesting information and it certainly it is quite true that surface temperatures have been flat at or near record high levels, focusing
on this fact alone and the fact that climate models failed to have forecast it, does very little overall good if the goal is to educate the public about the bigger picture, i.e. anthropogenic climate change as an energy imbalance affecting the
whole Earth energy
system, including all the spheres discussed above.
A significant number of people care about the fate of the component Σ, because it contributes significantly to the overall mode of operation of the
Earth system (such that tipping it modifies the qualitative state of the
whole system), it contributes significantly to human welfare (such that tipping it impacts
on many people), or it has great value in itself as a unique feature of the biosphere.
The climate feedbacks involved with these changes, which are key in understanding the climate
system as a
whole, include: + the importance of aerosol absorption
on climate + the impact of aerosol deposition which affects biology and, hence, emissions of aerosols and aerosol precursors via organic nitrogen, organic phosphorus and iron fertilization + the importance of land use and land use changes
on natural and anthropogenic aerosol sources + the SOA sources and impact
on climate, with special attention
on the impact human activities have
on natural SOA formation In order to quantitatively answer such questions I perform simulations of the past, present and future atmospheres, and make comparisons with measurements and remote sensing data, all of which help understand, evaluate and improve the model's parameterizations and performance, and our understanding of the
Earth system.
and how
on earth when national newspapers and television programs make reference to how this business is conducted, can anyone make any sense of any of it... when we as an industry can not even set up a
system that runs a mirror image of itself across the nation as a
whole.
