Well, if you spent a helluva lot of money
on the Xoom tablet, you might as well go the extra mile and buy this docking unit as well.
The operating system also features a basic on - screen keyboard that is not much different from the same found
on the Xoom or iPad.
The black plastic bezel surrounding the display
on the XOOM is a decent amount thinner than the bezel on an iPad, and while I like the idea of a thinner bezel, it makes holding the tablet in one hand pretty difficult due to the XOOM's weight and thickness.
This update brings the long - awaited support for micro-SD cards to expand the memory storage
on your Xoom tablet.
Let's see how a couple of apps run
on the Xoom.
Either way, some just may not care about the slight lead the G - Tablet has, as it's bigger, has an inferior screen with an almost non-existent viewing angle, and lacks some features found
on the Xoom — Honeycomb likely being the most significant.
And while you don't really get the old problem we had with TN panels, narrow viewing angles, brightness, contrast and colors are way poorer
on the Xoom's display than on the iPad's.
U.S. Cellular hasn't clearly mentioned yet whether the micro-SD card slot will be active
on its Xoom editions.
On the Xoom however you get a microSD card slot so you can extend memory, a regular SIM slot for 3G versions and a microUSB and micro HDMI slot.

The build quality
on the xoom is fantastic.
The extremely low MP of the camera make it useless for stills, but for some reason the software Apple's uses in the camera creates better video then the 5.0 MP camera's
on the Xoom & A500.
On the other hand, smartphone apps are often designed to be viewed in portrait mode — but most smartphone apps are also designed for 480 x 800 pixel or lower resolution displays and look absolutely ridiculous
on the XOOM's high resolution screen.
The Honeycomb maps app has more features than the iPad's map app, and Gmail, search, YouTube, and the calendar apps are a little more functional
on the Xoom.
Instead of building a cheaper tablet or lowering the price
on the Xoom they are going to release another tablet with beefier specs that the customer will never take advantage of.
Motorola doesn't currently offer a cheaper tablet, which means that you have to shell out nearly $ 600 to get your hands
on the XOOM.
We have been playing with Adobe Flash 10.2
on our XOOM for about a day and we have to say, performance has been pretty stellar.
Some apps that are designed for tablets look amazing
on the XOOM.
A functional version of Ice Cream Sandwich
on your XOOM.

Android 3.0
on the Xoom is a terrific multimedia combination: HD movies look great in the widescreen aspect ratio, you get Flash support for online video, and Google's redesigned music player is very appealing.
In images shown in the Google Gallery, I noticed that skin tones appeared to have a slight green cast, which wasn't in evidence
on the Xoom.

I had a horrible first experience with Honeycomb
on the Xoom, so until the kinks are worked out, I'm glad to see HTC's Sense skin make Android 2.3 Gingerbread play nice on a tablet.
Colors seemed dull and uninspired
on the Xoom, and the images lacked the detail and depth I expected to see.
One of the Xoom's main assets — aside from being the first Honeycomb tablet to market — should be its deep integration with the Honeycomb platform: Motorola worked hand - in - hand with Google to make Honeycomb run well
on the Xoom, Google's reference Honeycomb device.
The SD card slot
on the Xoom won't work until a software update arrives soon, but as soon as it lands, it'll be fully operational, putting it neck and neck with the Flyer.
The photos also had the same issues as
on the Xoom and other Android 3.0 tablets I've seen: When viewed full screen, the image render appears incomplete, resulting in fuzzy images that lack detail.
On the Xoom, waiting wasn't a huge issue: I transferred 700 MB of digital pictures to the Xoom in just 3 minutes.
As a Honeycomb tablet the Acer Iconia Tab A500 runs rather well and we found that the browser was generally stable and didn't crash as frequently as it does
on our Xoom.
The 5 - megapixel camera offers auto and infinity focus, but misses out
on the Xoom's macro focus option.
The image and picture quality
on the Xoom was relatively poor.
In fact, performance was better than
on our Xoom, with the browser giving a strong showing for itself.
All of the photos
on the Xoom had too little contrast and not enough color saturation and were significantly below the picture quality of the iPad 2 and Asus Transformer.
Compared to the iPad the accelerometer / rotation magic seems to take longer
on the Xoom.

While you'll be getting pretty much the same situation
on the Xoom, and probably earlier too, Motorola loses out here with none of the NFC fun.
The contribution margin
on the Xoom would have to be astronomical from them to ship 250k units, having only sold 20 - 40k through to retail.
Both tablets use LCD technology but the fact that you've got more of it to play with
on the Xoom puts it ahead.
The best part is that installing the ICS 4.0.4 firmware
on your Xoom will not make you void the Motorola warranty.
As of the time of this writing, Adobe Flash has not yet made an appearance
on the XOOM.
Google and Motorola worked very closely together
on the Xoom and as a result, starting tomorrow, the Xoom will be the first Android tablet available running Honeycomb (Android 3.0).
Motoblur never bothered me that much, but if I was big on Android, I might have a more boisterous opinion
on the Xoom.
The lag between rotating the Xoom and the OS rotating the desktop seems to be just slightly greater
on the Xoom compared to the first generation iPad.
The power button
on the XOOM was on the back, right under your left index finger.
The battery life is great, and 98 % of the apps I use
on my Xoom were free.
As the Ice Cream Sandwich update is still to come
on the Xoom 2, the tablet currently runs Android's 3.2 Honeycomb.
There are two cameras
on the Xoom: a front facing 2MP and a rear facing 5MP camera with LED flash.
There are only three physical buttons
on the Xoom: volume up, volume down and power / lock.
