That's because instead of trying to step up the drama or conjure up
cliffhangers, it's
too busy pursuing its own interests, which range from murdering robots and hallucinating about famous musicians to drunken karaoke and tripping out
on tea in Japan.
(Also, if you're ending a book
on a
cliffhanger, make sure you don't leave the characters — and your readers — hanging for
too long.
And I don't mean because it was
too short, or because said ending was really just a huge
cliffhanger, but looking back
on the story as a whole, it felt like the entire tale hadn't been told.
