I read
about «Almost Meatless» in Natural Health magazine, and we've been trying to compromise
on just small portions of meat incorporated into our mostly
vegetarian meals.
A recent presentation
about sustainable school catering in Turin suggested schools ought to be aiming to reduce meat - based meals by 50 %, through measures such as cutting down
on certain meats; introducing
vegetarian meals twice a week; and offering alternative veggie meals if children ask for them.

vegetarian path when I was
about 15 many, many decades ago and I really didn't... I've never been shy.
Thierry and Natalie are passionate

Vegetarian Master Class with Shirley Booth (leading authority
on Japanese food) to take place
on the 7th September, 7 pm and is a must for those looking for new ideas in a meat free diet.
I picked up a couple of big, lovely eggplants at the farmer's market, found a recipe online for a baked version (usually if I can bake something versus frying it, it's
on,) and set
about stepping right out of my comfort zone and into the wide world of
vegetarian cuisine.
I never once asked Matt to go vegan or even
vegetarian, but after we'd been together
about a year, he naturally became vegan all
on his own!
Of course, the omnivorous masses could have just
about anything they wanted and the
vegetarians could still rely
on dairy - based supplements, vegans had a tougher time.
If Einstein was alive today, I believe the word vegan would replace
vegetarian in his declaration
about the state of survival of life
on earth.
Ultimately, children and young people will go
on to make their own decisions
about what they eat, but as long as schools offer students the opportunity to think, discuss and debate the issues as well as to cook and eat good
vegetarian food, a weekly meat free day provides them with the knowledge and experience with which to make informed, responsible and compassionate choices.
