in a sprint, I mean, I'm pretty lean right now so I'm mainly just lifting weights, but a lot of people, you know, this is also gonna depend

Whereas cortisol may have saved our lives when we lived more connected to our animal natures, this stress hormone is now pulsing through our bodies
on a daily basis, causing
fatigue and anxiety
in the short term, and
adrenal burnout (among other diseases)
in the long run.
I can relate to your story as a person who tends to overdo it; I think that even if we're not suffering from full
on adrenal fatigue, we can hit a healthy balance with a lot less effort than we think... and
in our 50's, it's easier to run ourselves into the ground than when we were
in our 30's!

Dr. Wilson was recently
on the New Zealand current affairs program Close - Up explaining the concept of
adrenal fatigue to New Zealand, but was told
in a live debate with Associate Professor of Medicine at the Dunedin School of Medicine, Dr Patrick Manning, that

Do you find that people who use this product develop a dependence
on it to prevent
adrenal fatigue from reoccurring or are they able to reduce dosage once they get their lifestyle (proper rest, diet, exercise regiment, etc.) back
in line and their
adrenal function restored?
= As a personal example, I really enjoy jasmine green tea and would love to drink a cup or two every single morning, however, I refrain and only drink it occasionally because I have repeatedly noticed that if I drink green tea for a few days
in a row and then skip a day, I feel the effects
on my
adrenals as I experience
fatigue from the removal of the caffeine.
In the same way, you can't depend
on your cortisol and your
adrenal glands to keep taking you beyond your physical limits or eventually you will create depleted organs and chronic
fatigue.
In recent months I have reduced my training to every other day and have worked up from just walking for 2weeks to training only for 20 mins, I'm currently at 40 mins, my resting heart rate is in the mid 40's and I use a heart rate monitor every morning to measure my heart rate variability which is always green, I've been taking and adrenal complex, a multi vitamin, magnesium, zinc, omega oils, vit D, my sleep is improving and I'm not as fatigued through the day, my hot flashes are subsiding, I would really love some more support and advice on how to recover 100 % if it's possible and to know if you offer any sort of individual recovery programme

The very very last thing that I add
in and sometimes it can be a good 12 - 15 weeks before I add
in this component is chronic competitive motion where it's okay, we're actually going out to go
on a bike ride or swim or run or something that is metabolic conditioning roadwork because that's the stuff
in someone that is overtrained who often times has their parasympathetic nervous system really really beat up you know, if you test their heart rate variability, the number called there high frequency is really really consistently low you know usually because there are triathletes or marathoners that's more often I'm dealing with those people with
adrenal fatigue than I am with like a cross fitter who's kind of an opposite sympathetic nervous system
fatigue issue but with those parasympathetic nervous
fatigue, the last thing we add back
in is the swimming and the biking and the running because it's important to realize that when you're trying to recover from
adrenal fatigue or overtraining, even if you're doing like an easy swim or an easy bike ride or an easy run, if you're a triathlete or a marathoner or a swimmer or a cyclist, those easy sessions send a message to your body that you're training, that you're running from a lion and you still get that hormonal depletion and it's so easy for you to just turn into a depletion session and so that's the very very last thing that I'll add back
in so that's kinda like the crow's eye view of you know, the type of things that I'll implement
in a program for overtraining recovery, you know and you know, this is something that people hire me to walk them through.
