on as a holding midfielder, as this allowed Henderson and Milner to go forward.

holding midfielders in the absence of Coquelin at least, with Wenger going for Arteta and Flamini

midfielder.

Quick notes
on arsemal team 1 - paulista is not good

lst season at stamford bridge, was the first time i saw that 4 -1-4-1 formation being used, and for some weird reason i feel a very strange negative vibe and well all know the outcome.the manager has come back with this formation and its not yielding result, but he still sticks with it.i do nt know much about formations dear friends, but if you are playing a slow dm in arteta and a very very slow cb, then you are toast against quality teams with sound tactics.wen playing wellbeck

The bottom line this summer in Arsenal signings is Le Prof MUST sign a top quality
holding / attacking
midfielder of Goretzka's caliber to fully complement his entire starting XI team next season and just limits himself to the signings of Kolasinac and Lacazette alone which if he does without signing a top quality
holding / attacking
midfielder, his starting XI team next season could be understrength at
midfield as Santi Cazorla won't be available in the first half of the season and Elneny can't be relied
on to deliver high performances for Arsenal
on consistent basis.
lets all thank arsene for finally doing the right thing only time will tell but have we finally signed the DM we need STRONG MINDED NO
HOLD BAR
MIDFIELDER WE HAVE ALL CRAVED, but lets take it back we all know it will take 2 or 3 more like minded players to make us great again, he has tricked us all buy buying one superstar in the last 3 windows ALEXIS, OZIL and CHEC great players but can't do it all
on their own, spending huge amount of money and saying we can buy the best players,
on the surface this looks great we are buying top top players big prices but instead of spending his usual 50 mill
on 2, 3, 4, 0r 5 players he has pulled the wool over are eyes with 1 superstar thinking the fans are that dumb enough to believe it, infact he has never spent his budget only balanced
on sales too purchases, i love arsenal but this summer i hope for more he needs to do that consistently through out the team spend the same amount

Cazorla our Main
midfielder and orchestrator that makes us tick
as a team had an absolute nightmare game, he could not
hold onto the ball, could not pass, lacked energy for some reason and looked disinterested all the time he was
on the pitch.
This is an incredibly difficult question to answer for a variety of reasons, most importantly because over the years our once vaunted «beautiful» style of play has become a shadow of it's former self, only to be replaced by a less than stellar «plug and play» mentality where players play out of position and adjustments / substitutions are rarely forthcoming before the 75th minute... if you look at our current players, very few would make sense in the traditional Wengerian system... at present, we don't have the personnel to move the ball quickly from deep - lying position, efficient one touch
midfielders that can make the necessary through balls or the disciplined and pacey forwards to stretch defences into wide positions, without the aid of the backs coming up into the final 3rd, so that we can attack the defensive lanes in the same clinical fashion we did years ago...
on this current squad, we have only 1 central defender
on staf, Mustafi, who seems to have any prowess in the offensive zone or who can even pass two zones through so that we can advance play quickly out of our own end (I have seen some inklings that suggest
Holding might have some offensive qualities but too early to tell)... unfortunately Mustafi has a tendency to get himself in trouble when he gets overly aggressive
on the ball... from our backs out wide, we've seen pace from the likes of Bellerin and Gibbs and the spirited albeit offensively stunted play of Monreal, but none of these players possess the skill - set required in the offensive zone for the new Wenger scheme which requires deft touches, timely runs to the baseline and consistent crossing, especially when Giroud was playing and his ratio of scored goals per clear chances was relatively low (better last year though)... obviously I like Bellerin's future prospects,
as you can't teach pace, but I do worry that he regressed last season, which was obvious to Wenger because there was no way he would have used Ox
as the right side wing - back so often knowing that Barcelona could come calling in the off - season, if he thought otherwise...
as for our
midfielders, not a single one, minus the more confident Xhaka I watched played for the Swiss national team a couple years ago, who truly makes sense under the traditional Wenger model... Ramsey
holds onto the ball too long, gives the ball away cheaply far too often and abandons his defensive responsibilities
on a regular basis (doesn't score enough recently to justify): that being said, I've always thought he does possess a little something special, unfortunately he thinks so too... Xhaka is a little too slow to ever boss the
midfield and he tends to telegraph his one true strength, his long ball play: although I must admit he did get a bit better during some points in the latter part of last season... it always made me wonder why whenever he played with Coq Wenger always seemed to play Francis in a more advanced role
on the pitch...
as for Coq, he is way too reckless at the wrong times and has exhibited little offensive prowess yet finds himself in and around the box far too often... let's face it Wenger was ready to throw him in the trash heap when injuries forced him to use Francis and then he had the nerve to act like this was all part of a bigger Wenger constructed plan... he like Ramsey, Xhaka and Elneny don't offer the skills necessary to satisfy the quick transitory nature of our old offensive scheme or the stout defensive mindset needed to protect the defensive zone so that our offensive players can remain aggressive in the final third...
on the front end, we have Ozil, a player of immense skill but stunted by his physical demeanor that tends to offend, the fact that he's been played out of position far too many times since arriving and that the players in front of him, minus Sanchez, make little to no sense considering what he has to offer (especially Giroud); just think about the quick counter-attack offence in Real or the space and protection he receives in the German National team's
midfield, where teams couldn't afford to focus too heavily
on one individual... this player was a passing «specialist» long before he arrived in North London, so only an arrogant or ignorant individual would try to reinvent the wheel and / or not surround such a talent with the necessary components... in regards to Ox, Walcott and Welbeck, although they all possess serious talents I see them in large part
as headless chickens who are
on the injury table too much, lack the necessary first - touch and / or lack the finishing flair to warrant their inclusion in a regular starting eleven; I would say that, of the 3, Ox showed the most upside once we went to a back 3, but even he became a bit too consumed by his pending contract talks before the season ended and that concerned me a bit... if I had to choose one of those 3 players to stay
on it would be Ox due to his potential
as a plausible alternative to Bellerin in that wing - back position should we continue to use that formation... in Sanchez, we get one of the most committed skill players we've seen
on this squad for some years but that could all change soon, if it hasn't already of course... strangely enough, even he doesn't make sense given the constructs of the original Wenger offensive model because he
holds onto the ball too long and he will give the ball up a little too often in the offensive zone... a fact that is largely forgotten due to his infectious energy and the fact that the numbers he has achieved seem to justify the means... finally, and in many ways most crucially, Giroud, there is nothing about this team or the offensive system that Wenger has traditionally employed that would even suggest such a player would make sense
as a starter... too slow, too inefficient and way too easily dispossessed... once again, I think he has some special skills and, at times, has showed some world - class qualities but he's lack of mobility is an albatross around the necks of our offence... so when you ask who would be our best starting 11, I don't have a clue because of the 5 or 6 players that truly deserve a place in this side, 1 just arrived, 3 aren't under contract beyond 2018 and the other was just sold to Juve... man, this is theraputic because following this team is like an addiction to heroin without the benefits
this window has just finished i am already thinking about who we will get for the january window we might try for khedira
on a really low offer
as he is free agent almost would help boost numbers in
midfield in the new year
as we will no doubt need to filling the numbers about then also i will
hold my hands up and say i was wrong this morning for giving wenger stick and saying welbeck is rubbish i have been out in the cold light of day and had a chance to reevaluate the situation and realized that this could be a canny shrew transfer
on wenger behalf actually if wenger can turn the clock back and work his magic
on welbeck and get him scoring goals and improve his game then we could have a great underrated signing
on our hands its wengers absolute trust in him that might be what makes him a great player
as this is something that he never had at old mordor if anybody can make him a world beater wenger can he loves this little pet projects improving players against the odds welbeck has the skillset to be high class player upfornt he just needs to work very hard
on his finishing i think once he gets a few goals under his belt he will settle in fine and he is a team player you could put him
on the left against man city to shore up that side and he will put in a great shift without a complaint that could be his biggest asset to us or
on the right whenever we need him there ithinkwenger might start himon the left against city to protect the left back against navas and i bet you if he does a great job we will take a shine to him quickly i am hopeing he will be one of those wenger gems that he finds and polishes up to a high finish i must admit i was annoyed
as some other gunners were at not signing d / m and c / h but if wenger does win the league with this lot it will be his greatest win yet and what might play in to our hands is the unpredictable nature of the league in the last few seasons if we get
on a good run at the right time we might be hard to stop look at city they should have never lost to stoke but the result is there in black and white for all to see and i think chelsea will hit the skids after a while to just because cesc and costa are doing well now thats there main threat but teams will work out how to stop them
as the season goes
on and chelsea will become predictable i think we might just do well this season after all

as a DM.

Coquelin is nailed -
on to start
as the
holding midfielder as his brilliant season continues, and with Ozil, Cazorla, Giroud and the mighty Sanchez impossible to drop, that leaves the only possible change being a replacement for Ramsey, who has been declared a 50/50 chance by the boss.

on record

holding player in Arteta and he was right, Arteta is extremely good

As we saw with the transfer of their French midfielder N'Golo Kante to Chelsea for something like # 30 million the Foxes are not going to hold on to a player that really wants to leave as long as they get a decent pric

To me, i feel xhaka is well needed in dis new formation (d 3 -4-3) n moreso, he is a typical arsenal kind of player... can
hold on to d ball n distribute it with precision... all we need to succeed with dis new formation is to get a combative football playing
midfielder dat can win d ball n move with it... in d mould of naby keita, verrati n even Everton's gana can do d job or better still, take renato sanchez
on loan... doubt if he is going to get enough playing time
as he would want at bayern dis season again coz of their luxury of
midfield player, not sure if he will be in d 1st team with vidal n thiago alcantara unbenchable n anceloti having a soft spot for kimmich (just
as wenger has for Ramsey) I think if we propose a loan deal for renato sanchez dah bayern will grant it
Against stronger teams I'd go for our standard formation — Either Welbeck or Giroud
as lone striker, Alexis
on the left, Walcott or Ox
on the right, Cazorla / Özil in the middle, Ramsey
as box to box and Arteta / Flamini
as holding midfielder.
In turn, it's now claimed by Don Balon that Mourinho has set his sights
on Fabregas and
held a «secret conversation» with him, while it's a little more difficult to go along with the theory that he would also see it
as a blow to Antonio Conte to prise the
midfielder away given their current rivalry.

on the bench, Trippier at LWB, Alli
as a winger, Eriksen
as a

With Arsene Wenger selecting a very makeshift defence of Debuchy and
Holding either side of a central
midfielder Elneny,

on Sunday a big priority.
just wished we had Khedira or Cravalho in the lineup today... when I take a look at the line up the only part that bothers me is Arteta
as our
holding midfielder... Plus wished we had a new cb
on the bench too... I am way too nervous regarding our defence, one small injury and we are in deep shiiit
The nineteen year - old has a pretty good match away at Bastia, and he grew into the game
as it went
on, with the
holding midfielder looking solid in the opening stages, but gave away a couple or needless free - kicks, and have the ball away a couple of times in the middle of the park.
The wing backs and
holding midfielders will likely not play
as aggressively to protect against conceding cheap goals
on the break, but things should look familiar apart from that.
I thought Diaby actually did quite well
as a defensive
midfielder on Sunday but he does
hold onto the ball too long and he has rarely been
as consistent
as that.
They played three central defenders and another

holding midfield pair with two full backs

Lining up
on the left of a
midfield three that also featured Victor Wanyama
holding the middle ground and Mousa Dembele over
on the right, charged with aiding Kyle Walker
as well
as helping to dominate the centre of the pitch, Winks performed a similar role just ahead of Danny Rose, who caused chaos bombing
on from left - back.
This ensured they were also able to keep plenty of players behind the ball

As time went
on Gagliardini returned to the dominant
midfielder we know and love and in the 36th minute he dropped a perfect long ball over the top to Candreva who
held off Mattia De Sciglio to power the ball across Gianluigi Donnarumma and into the back of the net.
The depth chart,
as it stands today, only makes that clear, especially in
midfield and attack where there is very little depth of the kind Liverpool will surely need if they are to make a deep run in Europe and
hold on to a top four spot in the league.
With returning captain Mikel Arteta also brought
on to
hold in
midfield, Ramsey was freed up to make his charging runs forward from
midfield, and this paid off for Arsene Wenger
as the Welshman put Arsenal in front soon afterwards.
Defender Ball, who is also comfortable playing
as a
holding midfielder, spent last season
on loan at Cambridge while Oduwa made three starts and eight substitute appearances for Luton in the second half of last season.
if we are looking to coount
on Eboue for the
midfield role, i'd rather wenger goes to one of the most under - rated countries
as far
as footbalall is concerned.kenya is booming with young talent recently with the upcoming rigorous academies.Italians have already moved in and a year later Parma is reaping big with Mariga.the huge
midfielder has a record of loosing the ball the least times at any serie a match.the only reason why he does nt play the
holding role for his country is because there are much better options for the role even in the local league with the most likely choice being Austin Makacha who recently sighned for IK sirius in sweden.i think Wenger should check him out or at least snd scouts to the larger East africa if not just Kenya.nice piece
