There are 2 limitations however with the implementation: The edition will always be 1, and I can not track the number of
reviews for that
book (this is something NovelRank collects for all
books, but until I'm checking for new
reviews regularly, it is not part of the data that is shown
on the site).
Goodreads
reviews will trickle in overtime, and generally
there will be more of them because it is so easy to just click / rate a
book, but the extra effort a reader needs to put in
on Amazon makes those
reviews more meaningful.

book of your new series at 99cents; get some early

review copies before launch; buy some ads for the first couple weeks at that 99cent price point.

books that are obvious click farming; if a
book with no
reviews (or only negative
reviews) stays
on top of Amazon for months, or suddenly shoots to the top, and everybody thinks «how is this
book possibly doing this» — something fishy is probably going
on.

I've met some really nice indie authors and I am open to
review indie
books, but indeed
there are also some who just approach bloggers the wrong way and I really don't like when authors approach me
on social media if I don't know them, it leaves me with a bad taste and I likely won't
review their
book.
